Understanding the Problem

Ankle sprains are among the most under-rehabilitated injuries — many people 'walk it off', only to be left with recurring sprains, stiffness or lingering instability. Achilles tendinopathy, meanwhile, is a common frustration for runners and active people, causing morning stiffness and pain that grumbles on for months without the right loading programme.

I treat patients at home across Coggeshall, Colchester, Braintree, Witham, Halstead, Kelvedon, Tiptree and Earls Colne — with travel included in the session fee. See full pricing here.

What Treatment Looks Like

Restore strength and balance

Proper ankle rehab goes well beyond waiting for swelling to settle — it rebuilds calf strength, balance and control to cut the risk of re-injury substantially.

Evidence-based tendon loading

Achilles problems respond to progressive loading, not rest. I'll build a structured programme that calms the tendon down and then builds its capacity back up.

Return to running

I hold postgraduate training in return-to-running rehabilitation and use staged criteria — not guesswork — to get you back to sport safely.

Common Questions

Yes — persistent swelling, weakness or wariness after a sprain usually means the rehab was never completed. A structured strength and balance programme typically resolves it.
Generally no — tendons adapt to load, and complete rest usually makes them weaker. The key is finding the right starting level and progressing gradually, which is exactly what I'll guide you through.
Yes — heel and foot pain assessment and rehab are part of my MSK practice. If footwear or orthotic input is needed, I'll advise and refer appropriately.
